EVERGREEN AMERICA APPOINTS WU CHAIRMAN, CHEN PRESIDENT

EVERGREEN AMERICA APPOINTS WU CHAIRMAN, CHEN PRESIDENT    Evergreen America Corp., the Morristown, N.J., has named Owen Wu as chairman and Thomas Chen as president, effective Oct. 1.
   Wu had been president of the company for three years. He joined Evergreen in 1972, coming to New York as the company began its U.S. liner services in 1975. He served as president of Evergreen’s European headquarters from 1991 until returning to the United States as chief executive vice president in 1995.
   Chen had been Evergreen America’s executive vice president, based in Los Angeles. He started his career with Evergreen Marine Corp. in 1974 and has held executive positions with the company in Hong Kong, Chicago, San Francisco and Taipei.
   Evergreen America is the North American agent for Evergreen, the large Taiwanese ocean carrier.
