Evergreen America resumes rail services to hurricane affected areas

   Evergreen America Corp., the subsidiary of Taiwanese ocean carrier Evergreen Marine Corp., has resumed rail services to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.

   Evergreen America declared force majeure Sept. 8 following the extensive damage to transportation networks throughout the Southeast, especially in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

   “At this time, the affected railroads are now advising Evergreen America that they can now provide service to and from all previously affected areas, including New Orleans, La., and Mobile, Ala.,” Evergreen America said in a statement.
