EVERGREEN LENGTHENS FREQUENCY OF U.S./SOUTH AMERICA LINK

   Evergreen Marine Corp. has lengthened the frequency of its U.S. East Coast/East Coast of South America "SNA" container service by withdrawing three of the previous six vessels it employed on this route.
    The revised frequency is 14 days, compared to the previous weekly service frequency.
    The Taiwanese carrier has also made various changes to the rotation of the service. Northbound, calls at Paranagua have been stopped, but the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Francisco do Sul are now called every voyage northbound.
    In May, Evergreen reduced the fleet of the SNA service from seven vessels to six and stopped calls to Montevideo, Uruguay, and Cristobal, Panama, whilst adding a call at Kingston, Jamaica.
    Evergreen declined to comment on the reasons for, and likely duration, of the fall in sailing frequency for this service.
