Evergreen provides ships on CSCL/CMA CGM loop
Evergreen Line will provide two vessels on an Asia/Europe service operated by China Shipping and CMA CGM, according to a report from Containerisation International.
The AEX/FAL 2 service links five Chinese ports with northern Europe, using eight vessels with an average capacity of 9,402 TEUs, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data. Currently, China Shipping provides five of the vessels and CMA CGM three.
Evergreen, however, will take two of the vessel slots from CMA CGM, leaving the French line with one vessel on the service. CMA CGM at one time operated four vessels and the China Shipping the other four. Earlier this month a fifth China Shipping ship replaced one of CMA CGM's vessels. The CI report indicated CMA CGM will eventually provide another vessel, bringing the total number of ships on the service to nine, so the service can be slow steamed.
Another amendment to the service will be the deletion of a call at Ningbo, according to CI, though ComPair Data reported Tuesday that the service changes have added a call at Shekou.
Rotation on the service is Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Port Klang, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Klang and Shanghai.
ComPair Data said capacity has increased nominally, by 1 percent, as a result of the changes.
