Evergreen replaces smaller ships in Atlantic link

Evergreen Marine will replace six chartered ships used temporarily in its Asia/U.S. East Coast/north Europe “NUE” service by the same number of larger, owned container vessels.

The Taiwanese carrier has used six chartered vessels with capacities ranging between 2,800 and 3,800 TEUs in the service, but will in the next few months bring back six owned vessels of about 4,200-TEU capacities.

“The original vessel deployment on the NUE service was 12 4,000-TEU ships,” a spokesman for Evergreen in London said. “Consequently the revised plan is nothing more than back to the original deployment level.”
