EVERGREEN’S LISTED ARM REPORTS $1.8-BILLION REVENUES

Evergreen Marine Corp., the listed arm of the Taiwanese group, said that its consolidated operating revenue, including that of Panama-based shipping subsidiary Greencompass Marine S.A., reached NT$58.2 billion ($1.8 billion) last year.

The annual sales revenue marked a 12 percent increase when compared to the NT$52.2 billion revenue of Evergreen Marine Corp. and Greencompass in 1999.

In a statement issued to the Taiwanese stock exchange, Evergreen Marine Corp. reported that its consolidated operating revenue, including that of Greencompass Marine S.A., was NT$4.5 billion ($135 million) for the month of December, up 16 percent on December 1999. Of this consolidated monthly revenue, the share generated by Greencompass increased, while that of Evergreen Marine Corp. dropped, the company said.

The figures announced cover only one part of the group — its Evergreen Marine Corp. listed arm. The group does not disclose financial information about Evergreen International Panama, the other main asset-owning holding entity of the Taiwanese shipping, airline and hotels conglomerate.

A spokesman said that vessels that are owned by one part of the group are often operated by a separate entity within the group. The group trades under three main names of shipping lines — Evergreen Line, Uniglory and Lloyd Triestino.
