Executive Moves: Mxi Technologies, IAPH, ATA and two law firms

Mxi Technologies names new CEO,; IAPH (America, North region) appoints new VP; ATA names CFO; Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg hires FDA regulatory consultant; and Morrison & Foerster appoints head of Transportation Group.    When Jon Slangerup, the chief executive officer of the Port of Long Beach, announced last week he was leaving his job as head of the nation’s second largest port Oct. 28, one important fact was missing from the announcement – where he was going.
Tuesday, Ottawa, Canada-based Mxi Technologies a maker of aviation maintenance software, said Slangerup has become its new chairman and chief executive officer. Slangerup has been a board member at Mxi. Though he is a native Californian, earlier in his career Slangerup was president of FedEx Canada.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Port Director Molly Campbell has been elected as the new vice president of International Association of Ports and Harbors (America, North region) by the region’s regular and honorary members.
The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has promoted Rusty Duckworth to chief financial officer. Duckworth has worked for the ATA since 1999 in a variety of roles in the accounting and finance department, most recently as senior vice president and controller.
International trade and regulatory law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg has hired Domenic J. Veneziano to be an independent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory and strategic consultant. Prior to this appointment, he worked 24 years with the FDA, and until his retirement, was the agency’s director of the Division of Import Operations for the past 10 years. The law firm said Veneziano’s appointment will help bolster its assistance to importers adjusting to requirements under the Food Safety Modernization Act and the transition to filing in the Automated Commercial Environment.
The law firm Morrison & Foerster has appointed Katie Thomson as head of its Transportation Group. She had previously served as general counsel to the U.S. Transportation Department and chief counsel to the Federal Aviation Administration. At Morrison & Foerster, Thomson will counsel transportation clients on regulatory matters, civil and criminal litigation, internal and governmental investigations, compliance issues and cybersecurity matters.
