The board of trustees of the Galveston Wharves, the public agency that operates the Port of Galveston, has appointed Rodger Rees to serve as the port director for the Port of Galveston, effective Jan. 15, 2018. Rees, who currently serves as the deputy executive director and chief financial officer for Port Canaveral, is a certified public accountant with over 25 years of executive management experience.

Ryder, a Miami-based commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation and supply chain solutions provider, has named Wendy Nicolson to serve as rental sales executive for Scotland. Nicolson previously served as customer service supervisor within Ryder’s Glasgow, Scotland location. She brings to her new role almost 15 years of experience in the commercial vehicle rental and leasing sector from her experience at Ryder and Hill Hire. She joined Ryder back in 2011 as part of the company’s acquisition of Hill Hire.

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A. (ST&R), an international trade and customs law firm headquartered in Miami, has added Jenna Glass to serve as an advisor in the firm’s export controls and sanctions practice. Glass, who will be based in ST&R’s San Francisco office, has over a decade of experience in international trade compliance and supply chain operations. Glass most recently served as a global trade compliance manager for a leading U.S. technology company. She is also an active member of CompTIA (formerly TechAmerica) and co-chairs its Best Practices Subcommittee.

The European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) has named Panagiotis Laskardis president of the association, beginning his two-year term in January 2018.
Laskardis is succeeding ECSA President Niels Smedegaard, who will remain a board member. Laskardis is a member of the board of the Union of Greek Shipowners, CEO of Laskardis Shipping Co. Ltd. and CEO of Lavinia Corp.
