Expeditors: European investigators asking for information
Expeditors International of Washington Inc., the international freight forwarding and logistics company, said its U.K. subsidiary, Expeditors International (U.K.) Ltd., received a request for information June 18 issued by the European Commission seeking “certain information and records relating to an ongoing investigation of freight forwarders.”
Expeditors said it was cooperating with the European investigators.
Last fall, Expeditors and several other companies — including Kuehne + Nagel, Eagle Global Logistics, and Panalpina — said competition investigators from Europe or the U.S. Justice Department had visited offices or asked for information.
The Justice Department said at that time it was investigating possible “anticompetitive practices in the international freight forwarding industry.”
