ICS, a supplier of systems and sensors for homeland security and defense markets, made the sale through its Hamburg-based distributor D-TeC System Consulting.
The sniffers provide a mobile-screening capability and FCZT plans to rent them to freight forwarders, charging customers on a per-item examined rate after the units are installed in what it calls a suitable vehicle and then driven to the scanning location.
“We implemented the first QS-H150 in our newly launched mobile screening service late last year,” said Holger Hille, general manager of First Class Zollservice. “In Germany we have strict regulations regarding the transportation of equipment that uses radioactive materials. With its advanced design, the QS-H150 has opened a new market for us.”
FCZT, based in Raunheim, Germany, has served the customs clearance and air freight industries for two decades, but said its foray into cargo security was a recent expansion. – Geoff Whiting
