Extreme Express upgrades IT infrastructure

North Carolina-based Extreme Express Logistics completed an upgrade to its technology infrastructure, the company said this week.
The upgrade is aimed at enhancing the company’s ability to provide critical and expedited delivery, reverse logistics, warehousing and order fulfillment.
As part of the upgrade, Extreme Express said it has integrated a software system from Crown Data Systems to provide access to real-time information on freight. The upgrade also gives the company improved document scanning and imaging capability to minimize errors associated with manual paperwork.
“Being unencumbered by archaic technology, we are now able to better communicate to our customers and get done what needs to get done quicker without sacrificing quality,” said president Brent Smith.
Extreme Express said it also plans to launch a new Website in January, with the new site designed to enable customers to get 24/7 status updates on their freight deliveries, including when the freight is recovered, delivered, and who signed for it.
The technology upgrade project began in early 2012 in part as a result of a review of internal processes to better serve freight and third-party logistics companies, retailers, corporations, small businesses, and consumer-oriented businesses looking for help with their supply chains. – Eric Johnson
