FAA aids Dutch Caribbean

   The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has signed an agreement with the Netherlands to coordinate airspace between the United States and Dutch-controlled Caribbean islands.
   The agency will also install FAA air navigation services and facilities in the area, share safety information and other data, and provide technical assistance on an as-needed basis. The FAA already provides air navigation services in the San Juan Flight Information Region, which is adjacent to Netherlands airspace. 
   “The Kingdom of the Netherlands is pleased to join the Federal Aviation Administration to promote the air safety of the Dutch Caribbean,” Netherlands Ambassador Rudolf Benkink said in a statement. Both countries “share values, history and a commitment to safety, in the air, on the land or sea. This agreement strengthens our cooperation to the benefit of the Caribbean, the United States and Europe.”
   The affected areas of the Caribbean include Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St. Eustatius and Sint Maarten. – Jon Ross
