FAA amends air-cargo hazmat training requirements

FAA amends air-cargo hazmat training requirements    The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has amended its hazardous materials training regulations for certain airlines and commercial operators.
   In addition, the FAA is requiring that certain repair stations provide documentation demonstrating that their personnel have been properly trained on the Transportation Department’s Hazardous Materials Regulations.
   The agency said the rulemaking is required because of industry changes during the past 25 years. “The rule will set clear hazmat training standards and ensure uniform compliance with hazmat training requirements,” the FAA said.
   The new rule becomes effective Nov. 7. The compliance deadline is set for Feb. 7, 2007.
