FCBF programs focus on Customs compliance

The Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association will hold a half-day seminar 'Customs Broker Compliance and Best Practices,' July 18, followed by the group's monthly general membership meeting.

   The seminar will feature a series of presentations by Miami-based officials from import-related federal agencies. They will conduct three, hour-long panel discussions on the subjects 'what makes a good broker,' Customs and Border Protection perspectives on best practices for brokers,' and 'other government agency documentary compliance.'

   Howard Woodward, CBP's director of field operations in Miami, will be a speaker at the luncheon meeting. Top managers from the Port of Miami have also been invited to speak at the luncheon. In addition, Port of Miami Terminal Operating Co. Vice President John Ballestero and customer Service Manager Hilda Torres will give an update on POMTOC's new, high-tech gate system at the port.
