FCL Carrier moves into U.S. market

Antwerp, Belgium-based intermediary FCL Carrier is moving into the U.S. market with a series of weekly breakbulk, containerized, project cargo, roll-on/roll-off and specialized equipment services to Central Asia, Mongolia, North Korea, Russia Far East, China and India.

   'We have been looking at the United States for quite some time, and felt we could service the global niche markets with our specialized equipment, market knowledge, personalized customer service, Web-based information technology and highly competitive rates,” said Anton Plompen, FCL Carrier's chief executive officer.

   FCL Carrier has appointed three agents in North America: Waves Logistics Corp., representing the West Coast of North America; Carolina Shipping Co. covering the North America Gulf and South Atlantic; and Seabridge Shipping representing Canada.

   Established in 1998, FCL Carrier offers weekly container services from European markets to Alaska, the Russian Far East, Hawaii, North Korea and Saipan/Guam and other South Pacific locations.
