FCL Carrier starts North America/Afghanistan service

FCL Carrier starts North America/Afghanistan service Belgian non-vessel-operating common carrier FCL Carrier has followed up its entry into the United States last month by starting a service between the United States, Canada and Afghanistan.
   The service moves breakbulk, hazardous and project cargo, including non-governmental organization shipments for aid and relief projects, via transshipment from the Port of Karachi in Pakistan.
   “We have a long history of servicing niche locations, and we saw a strong demand in the market for service to Afghanistan, especially by aid and relief organizations,” said Anton Plompen, FCL Carrier’s chief executive officer.
   FCL Carrier is supported by three agency partnerships in North America with Waves Logistics Corp., representing the West Coast; Carolina Shipping Co., the Gulf and South Atlantic; and Seabridge Shipping Ltd. representing Canada. In the Middle East, FCL Carrier is represented by Messrs Barwil Shipping (Private) Ltd. part of Norway’s Wilhelmsen Maritime Services.
