FDX Corp. said Tuesday that it had formed a strategic supply chain
alliance with KPMG LLP to handle the daily movement of thousands of
packages from suppliers to end users.
Dennis H. Jones, executive vice president and chief information officer
of FDX Corp, said the alliance was a "joint approach" toward marketing an
end-to-end supply chain management continuum that would offer one-stop shopping in
logistics services.
FDX has already announced a comparable arrangement with SAP, the German
software manufacturer.
Ken Neal, a KPMG spokesman, said that the alliance would give both parties
increased strategic leverage with mid-sized shippers.
