FedEx hikes Ground rates 5.9%
FedEx on Friday said it will raise standard list rates 5.9 percent for its Ground and Home Delivery services, effective Jan. 5.
FedEx previously announced a 6.9 percent increase for its U.S. domestic and export Express product, along with some fuel surcharge adjustments.
The FedEx Ground rate increase mirrors UPS’ Ground rate for 2009.
UPS and FedEx ground rates for 2009 are 1 percent higher than in 2008, which some analysts attribute to DHL Express’ recent demise as domestic ground provider in the U.S. market.
Changes to FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery surcharges, and some FedEx Express surcharges, will be made after Jan. 5. Details of these surcharges and the new rates are available at www.fedex.com/us/2009rates.
