FedEx starts new U.K. freighter service

FedEx starts new U.K. freighter service FedEx Express said it is beginning a new dedicated freighter service between Manchester International Airport and its main U.S. hub in Memphis.
   The new flight will extend next-day service to the Manchester area and offer customers later pick-up times.
   The service will be provided Monday through Thursday on an MD-11 aircraft originating in Paris. The flight will increase FedEx’s capacity from the United Kingdom by 50 percent.
   “Manchester is the fastest-growing region in the U.K., which has led to increased market demand for reliable, time-definite express transportation services,” said Robert W. Elliott, president, FedEx Express, Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa.
   It is the express carrier’s third service between the United Kingdom and the United States. FedEx flies freighters from Stansted Airport in the Southeast part of the country to Newark, N.J., and to Memphis.
