FedEx transports priceless artifacts

FedEx has transported 127 crates of Machu Picchu artifacts — stone tools and ceramic fragments that had been housed at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History — from Newark, N.J., to Lima, Peru.
The shipment was flown on an Airbus 330 aircraft to Peru, transferred to a military base and handed over to the Peruvian government, which flew the artifacts to their final destination of Cusco, Peru.
The priceless shipment required special handling, a specialized loading plan and in-flight monitoring. A charter manager made the flight with the shipment to assist with loading and unloading.
“FedEx has a long history of transporting delicate cargo, and it is a privilege to serve as the trusted carrier of these priceless pieces of history,” FedEx’s Juan N. Cento said in a statement.
