Feds to help fix Florida transportation infrastructure

The U.S. government will spend almost $4.5 million to help fund initial repairs to the Pensacola Regional Airport and a pair of bridges that carry Interstate 10 across Escambia Bay that were damaged by Hurricane Ivan last week.

Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta announced the emergency grants during a visit to Florida to survey the sites. Of the amount, about $2.5 million will go for airport repairs.
