FEFC INCREASES RATES FROM ASIA AGAIN

The Far Eastern Freight Conference has announced an
increase in rates of at least $300 per TEU or $15 per ton of less-than-containerload cargo
from
July 1.
The increase will apply to all shipments from Asia to northern Europe.
The rate hike will coincide with the start of the seasonal surge in cargo
volumes in the westbound Asia-to-Europe trade.
Since the beginning of the year, the FEFC has raised rates by a total of at
least $650 per 20-foot container or $1,300 per 40-footer. On April 1,
conference rates went up by a minimum of $150 per TEU. On Jan. 1, rates rose by a minimum
of $200 per TEU.
