FEFC raising westbound rates

FEFC raising westbound rates Carriers in the Far Eastern Freight Conference have agreed to westbound rate increases for dry and reefer containers moving from Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe, the Baltic Sea, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.
   From Jan. 1, the lines will seek a rise of $200 per TEU for 'base ports' and $300 per TEU for Southeast Asia. Singapore, Port Kelang and Tanjung Pelapas are considered base ports and will be subject to the lower increase.
   At the same time, a tariff rate will be filed for BCO (beneficial cargo owner) cargo of $1,700 per TEU plus surcharges, for a minimum 10,000 TEUs.
   Further rate increases are due for the first days in April, July and September.
   FEFC member lines are ANL Container Lines, APL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Egyptian International Shipping Co., Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, “K” Line, Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Co., MISC Berhad, MOL, NYK, OOCL, Safmarine and Yang Ming.
