FEMA urges hurricane preparedness

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is urging families and businesses to prepare for the 2014 hurricane season — which starts June 1 — ahead of Hurricane Preparedness Week at the end of May.
FEMA recommends that individuals and families have a communication plan as well as an emergency kit ready to go. Tips can be found at m.fema.gov.
Business owners and managers are encouraged to visit ready.gov/business for specific resources and plans.
FEMA also advises all property owners and renters to review their insurance coverage, including flood insurance.
More information about flood risks and flood insurance is available at www.floodsmart.gov.
Hurricane Preparedness Week is May 25-31.
