FESCO AND GREAT WESTERN PLAN COOPERATION IN TRANSPACIFIC

Far Eastern Shipping Co. and Great Western Steamship Co. plan to cooperate in the transpacific trade.

The two carriers have filed an agreement with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission to allow them to charter space to and from each other on their respective vessels operating in the trade between U.S. Pacific Coast ports and ports in the Far East.

The carriers have requested expedited review by the FMC.

At present, Great Western Steamship, headquartered in Tequesta, Fl., and Russia-based FESCO each provide a weekly service between Hong Kong and China in Asia and the U.S. West Coast. FESCO will add, in mid-November, a fortnightly service between Russian Far East ports and Seattle.
