FFE CALLS ON AIRLINES TO BACK CARGO 2000 AS AIR CARGO BENCHMARK

FreightForward Europe, a group of nine global forwarders and logistics services providers, is calling for more airline support for Cargo 2000’s new quality management system.

Six FFE members–Danzas, Exel Logistics, Geologistics, Kuehne & Nagel, Panalpina, and Schenker–are already participating members of Cargo 2000. The other three companies–ABX Logistics, Dachser and Geodis — intend to join the group.

In a letter to the heads of airline cargo divisions, FFE’s CEO Committee stated: “We believe Cargo 2000 offers the best opportunity for our industry to implement processes, backed by quality, that are measurable and supported by data. The progress Cargo 2000 is making will improve the efficiency of air cargo, enhance customer service levels and reduce operating costs.”

The groups said the endorsement of Cargo 2000 from leading global shipper associations, including the European Shippers’ Council, is a further demonstration of Cargo 2000’s progress and standing    among influential customer organizations.

Ron Cesana, project director of Cargo 2000, said: “We welcome this strong statement of support from such an important group. Cargo 2000 now has great momentum and with the help of our members, we will deliver the quality benchmark for air cargo that our ultimate insiders are demanding.”
