Fiat Chrysler to build $12.2m DC in Virginia

The new 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Winchester, Va. will house the automobile manufacturer’s service, parts and customer care division, Mopar.

   Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) plans to invest $12.2 million to build a new distribution center in Winchester, Va., according to a statement from the company.
   The new 400,000-square-foot distribution center will house the automobile manufacturer’s Mopar division, the service, parts and customer-care brand of FCA US LLC. The facility will be the 22nd Mopar distribution center in North America (53 including joint ventures) and is expected to create more than 70 jobs.
   The Mopar Virginia DC will handle more than 50,000 part numbers, service more than 200 FCA US dealers and ship approximately 9.2 million units annually.
   “The opening of the Virginia PDC will significantly increase our dealer network strength in this important and growing market, improving customer service by delivering faster and more efficiently parts and accessories to dealerships,” said Pietro Gorlier, head of parts and service (Mopar) for FCA Global. “This helps us to achieve our mission at Mopar of supporting our customers with the products they need to promptly maintain, repair or personalize their vehicles.”
   Mopar distributes more than 500,000 parts and accessories in over 150 global markets from more than 50 parts distribution centers and 25 customer contact centers around the world.
