Fiber optics firm selects MDI software package

Duncan, S.C.-based fiber optic manufacturer AFL Telecommunications has launched a deployment of a Management Dynamics Inc.'s software package to centrally manage trade compliance across AFL's import and export operations.

AFL is implementing MDI's branded Global Trade Compliance software, including modules for import compliance, trade agreement management and export compliance. The MDI package will also provide AFL with trade content to manage product classification, total landed costs calculations, licensing requirements and screening for restricted parties.

'We selected MDI's GTM solution because it best fit our business requirements, the company has a great reputation within the industry, and we were impressed by the positive feedback we received from customers,' said Jeff Schmerbeck, director of supply chain for AFL Telecommunications LLC.

AFL noted the MDI package for its breadth of trade content, the ability to manage duties paid by performing post-entry review on all of AFL imports, and for fully optimizing the cost savings associated with the manufacturer's NAFTA program.
