O’Hare and Midway officials confirmed on Twitter and Facebook at 5:37 a.m. CST that the airports are in “ground stop” holding patterns. It was expected that flights could take off as soon as 8 a.m. CST.
According to reports, Southwest Airlines has suspended Chicago flights until noon CST. The FAA will reportedly not allow flights traveling through Chicago to take off until after 10 a.m. CST.
