First section of Miami International’s South Terminal opens

First section of Miami InternationalÆs South Terminal opens A section of the new South Terminal Building at Miami International Airport was opened to the public for the first time this morning.
   Delta Airlines moved into its new ticket counters at the South Terminal and started doing business with the public, said Max Fajardo, Miami-Dade Aviation Department deputy aviation director.
      'This long-awaited facility will change the way the traveling public will perceive our airport,' Fajardo said in an announcement marking the event. The terminal 'will contain quality shopping, an abundance of art, and many other amenities and conveniences not currently available in the existing terminal building. The sheer size of the facility will amaze even the most ardent critics of this airport. This is a world class facility that we should all be proud of and marks a new beginning for MDAD and the county at large.'
   The new bus station for cruise passengers will start service on Friday.
   As more carriers move into the South Terminal, that will free up space and allow renovations to move forward in other areas of the airport.
