Florida will use Sebring for international promotions

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said Monday it plans to use the upcoming Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring race as a means to promote Florida citrus fruits at the international level.

'Sponsorship of this internationally acclaimed event is an excellent way to promote 'Fresh from Florida' agricultural products to consumers around the world,' Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles H. Bronson said. 'The growing popularity of racing, especially with younger audiences, makes this an excellent venue for reaching an important segment of the population.'

FDACS has officially teamed with Sebring International Raceway as a sponsor of the March 14-17 event. The winner of the race will celebrate with a glass of Florida orange juice ' an apparent departure from the traditional milk promotion common in racing.
