FMC AMENDS INVESTIGATION ORDER AGAINST HUDSON SHIPPING

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission has amended its investigation order of Hudson Shipping (Hong Kong) Ltd. to determine whether the company operated its non-vessel-operating common carrier in the U.S. ocean freight market without providing the agency a valid bond and proof of insurance.

The investigation will also determine whether civil penalties should be assessed against Hudson Shipping for violating the 1984 Shipping Act, and whether the company should “cease and desist” operations in the United States.

The FMC issued its initial order to investigate Hudson Shipping’s activities on April 5, 2002.
