FMC CANCELS PUBLIC PORTION OF AUG. 15 MEETING

   The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission has cancelled the public portion of its Aug. 15 meeting in Washington.

   The public portion was supposed to cover the agency’s Ocean Shipping Reform Act Impact Study, but the report is not finished.

   The closed portion of the meeting will include reviews of shipping restrictions, requirements and practices in China; the Petition of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co. for a partial exemption from the Controlled Carrier Act.; the Petition of China National Foreign Trade Transportation (Group) Corp. (Sinotrans) for exemption from Section 9 (c) of the 1984 Shipping Act; issues arising under the 1984 Shipping Act related to controlled carries of China; and Stallion Cargo Inc. for possible violations of Sections 10 (a) (1) and 10 (b) (1) of the 1984 Shipping Act.
