The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission will offer ocean transportation intermediaries the ability to file license applications electronically, starting Sept. 24.
The FMC said the OTI application filing system is intended to provide more efficient processing and review of OTI license applications. However, use of the automated system will be optional. OTIs may still submit the Form FMC-18 in paper format.
A filing fee of $250 will apply to new applicants for OTI licensing, and $125 for existing licensees who might want to use the optional electronic filing system to update their licensing records or to submit changes in the licensee’s organization for which prior commission approval is required, the FMC said.
The automated OTI filing system may be accessed through the FMC’s Web site at https://www.fmc.gov. For more information, contact Sandra Kusumoto, director of the FMC's Bureau of Certification and Licensing, by phone at (202) 523-5787, or e-mail at SKusumoto@fmc.gov.
