“This optional filing method will contribute to a more efficient application review process and provide licensees and applicants with a convenient, user-friendly online filing system,” the FMC said in a statement.
The application is available at https://www2.fmc.gov/form18/. The system is password-protected to provide security for filed information, the FMC said.
Previously, OTIs were required to submit by mail or courier an original typewritten application and documentation, along with two copies, to the agency’s Bureau of Certification and Licensing. “Using (the electronic) method, only the fee payment and the application signature page must be delivered by mail or courier; everything else will be submitted online,” the FMC said.
To encourage use of the online Form FMC-18, the commission will assess a lesser filing fee for those using this method. The fees will be $250 for new applicants and $125 for existing licensees who use the electronic filing system to update their licensing records or to submit changes in the licensee’s organization for which prior commission approval is required.
While OTIs have the option to file their applications electronically, the FMC said it may later determine to make it mandatory. The FMC will provide a notice and comment period, if it decides to take this route.
