FMC OUTLINES PLANS FOR 2004

U.S. Federal Maritime Commission has released its performance plan for fiscal year 2004.

“Our FY 2004 plan continues our efforts to take better advantage of emerging technologies and to offer time/cost saving e-services to regulated entities and the public at large,” the agency said.

During fiscal year 2004, the FMC will continue its focus on security as it relates to ocean commerce. “We have been active in this regard since the events of September 11, 2001,” the FMC said.

In accordance with the Government Performance and Results Act, the FMC must submit an annual performance plan to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget.

While the plan is “closely linked” to the FMC’s strategic plan, its content is more detailed and specific. The strategic plan is focused on the agency’s long-term plans.

A complete review of the FMC’s fiscal year 2004 plan is available online at http://www.fmc.gov/Dockets/Annual%20Perf%20Plan%20Final%20FY04.htm.
