FMC TO CONSIDER PROPOSED TARIFF ACCESS REGULATIONS SEPT. 20
The Federal Maritime Commission will consider whether to issue proposed regulations or guidelines that would govern fees to access ocean carriers’ tariffs at an open meeting on Wednesday.
Carriers and shippers are opposed the commission’s proposed regulatory approach, but they do support FMC oversight. They want the agency to consider the reasonableness issue on a case-by-case basis.
Non-vessel operating common carriers want the FMC to refocus its efforts on ways to simplifying tariff publishing, and ultimately, remove tariff publishing requirements altogether.
