FMCSA launches anti-fatigue site

Officials from the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Canadian Ministry of Transport have released the North American Fatigue Management Program.
The Website will include training and information about truck driver fatigue management, with the aim of reducing fatigue-related crashes.
The site will provide information about sleep disorders, anti-fatigue scheduling, and fatigue-management techniques. According to a news release, the site will also help drivers coordinate a culture within their company that promotes reducing driver fatigue.
“We can help save lives and prevent crashes on our roads by providing drivers and companies with educational tools, like those contained in the North American Fatigue Management Program Website,” FMCSA’s Anne Ferro said in a statement. “This is another supportive resource truck and bus drivers can utilize in addition to complying with our hours-of-service rules.”
Officials are quick to warn drivers that the new tools do not replace regulations like the hours-of-service rules, and the Website should instead be seen as a complement to the regulations.
The voluntary program can be accessed here.
