FMCSA seeks input on automated driving systems

Public listening session will take place at the University of Michigan on June 19.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will conduct a public listening session on automated driving systems (ADS) in commercial motor vehicles.
The meeting will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. June 19 at the University of Michigan Research Auditorium, 2800 Plymouth St., Ann Arbor.
The FMCSA has scheduled the listening session to solicit information on issues relating to the design, development, testing and integration of ADS-equipped CMVs on the nation’s roadways.
“The listening session will provide interested parties with an opportunity to assist the agency’s future rulemaking efforts by sharing their views on the (federal motor carrier safety regulations) as they relate to the development and safe integration of ADS,” according to the meeting announcement in the Federal Register. “It will also allow FMCSA to share with stakeholders the agency’s ADS strategy and open a channel for two-way communication.”
