Ford selects Wallenius Jaxport facility

Ford selects Wallenius Jaxport facility Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has signed an agreement with Ford Motor Company to handle Ford's vehicle processing in Jacksonville.
   The first shipment of vehicles in Jacksonville is scheduled for mid-September, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen estimates it will process 30,000 Ford vehicles a year, conducting the final vehicle preparations, including market-specific modifications, before the finished vehicles are shipped out.
   Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' Jacksonville vehicle processing center is situated on 74 acres along Blount Island Boulevard and features a 53,400 square foot building and a storage capacity of 10,800 units. The services provided at the facility include the installation of accessories, survey, painting and bodywork, car washing, as well as on-site rail loading and unloading. Total volume for the year 2005 was approximately 94,000 units.
   Wallenius Wilhelmsen was already processing Fords in Brunswick, Ga. In making the announcement about the Jacksonville contract, the company said the contract for operations in Brunswick had also been extended.
