Former MarAd chief enters alliance with Jones Walker    Former U.S. Maritime Administrator William G. Schubert, through his maritime and government affairs consulting firm International Trade and Transportation Inc., has entered into an alliance with law firm Jones Walker.
   Schubert served as maritime administrator from December 2001 until February 2005. Among his numerous accomplishments at the Maritime Administration is the reauthorization of the Maritime Security Program and tax reform for the U.S. maritime industry. He was also deeply involved with the U.S. military’s sealift activities to support combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
   “This alliance with Jones Walker is the perfect complement to my maritime background and my continued desire to have a positive impact on the industry,” Schubert said in a statement released by Jones Walker on Wednesday. “Through this arrangement, I have the access to skilled and prominent maritime attorneys whose client base will benefit greatly from this arrangement.”
   Schubert will operate through the Jones Walker offices in Washington and Houston.
