Dunn, a six-term member who represented an area outside Seattle, retired in 2004 as the ranking Republican in the Washington state delegation.
She served as vice chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, was the highest ranking woman in the Republican caucus as vice chair, and was a strong trade advocate.
Dunn is survived by her husband, Keith Thomson, a former assistant commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, and three sons. She was 66.
