Forward Air Corp., a Tennessee-based air freight trucker, posted net
income of $3.1 million for the first quarter, almost double the $1.6
million it earned in 1998.
Revenue increased 30.4 percent to a record $37.7 million at the firm,
which was spun off into an independent publicly traded company last year.
Forward Air cited strong demand from existing customers for
time-definite, airport-to-airport ground delivery services.
