Fraser River port fixing rock wall to reduce dredging needs The Fraser River Port Authority is removing 200 feet of rock from the Annieville Trifurcation Rock Wall adjacent to Surrey's Timberland Basin in the South Arm of the Fraser River, the port said Friday.
   The rock wall is designed to increase the velocity of the river where the water naturally slows. By preventing a mass settlement of debris and silt, the need for dredging in the area is reduced. The modification is part of overall channel enhancements designed to accommodate larger ships. The project will not result in destruction or disruption to fish habitat in the Fraser River.
   Changes to the wall began Thursday and are expected to take about four weeks to complete.
