Free time extension in Thailand by MCC

Intra-Asia ocean line MCC Transport informed customers in Thailand today that they will have an extra week of free time for import containers before they are charged demurrage fees due to the massive flooding in Bangkok.
Thailand has experienced record floods since August that have killed at least 356 people. Flood waters are now reaching the Thai capital, where residents are being evacuated and workers are building barricades in an effort to protect some areas of the city.
MCC Transport said customers will now have 14 days to pick up their cargo before late fees kick in. The new policy is in effect immediately through Oct. 31.
The company said the Port of Laem Chabang is unlikely to be impacted by further rain. It’s terminals in the Bangkok area continue to operate normally, it said.
