Freeport port, city to work together    The Texas port and city of Freeport entered a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to work together on transportation issues for all traffic entering and leaving the seaport.
   'We feel it will be beneficial for both parties, and we are confident that it is a step in the right direction for all involved,' said Port Freeport Port Commission Chairman Thomas S. Perryman, in a statement.
   The port and city desire to accomplish the MOU through joint planning, developing proper truck routes, parking schemes, off-site parking areas, managing truck escort services, determining and evaluating peak hours of operation, placement and construction of new gates, permitted heavy load routes, rail studies and rail crossings and cooperating in any future freight mobility studies that may have an impact on the City of Freeport and share any data collected so far related to commercial vehicles generated by the port.
