Freeport’s Reixach to chair AAPA

Freeport’s Reixach to chair AAPA    A.J. 'Pete' Reixach Jr., executive port director and chief executive officer of Port Freeport, has been appointed chairman-elect of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA).
   Reixach's unanimous election by the AAPA board came March 22 during the AAPA spring conference in Washington. He will take the chairman's role for a one-year term, starting the final day of AAPA's 99th annual convention, set for Sept. 19-23 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reixach replaces Michael A. Leone, port director of the Massachusetts Port Authority.
   Reixach has served as Port Freeport's executive port director since 1988. He joined the Texas Gulf Coast port in 1985 as assistant general manager and became its general manager in 1986. His career in the industry spans five decades, beginning in the New Orleans office of Greece-based Hellenic Lines Ltd., for which he assumed the position of Houston-based assistant manager for the West Gulf in 1970.    Prior to joining Port Freeport, he was Houston-based vice president and general manager for F.A. Voight Inc., a Netherlands-based shipping company.
