Freightliner to rail CSAV cargo in U.K.    Freightliner Intermodal has signed a new contract with CSAV group Agencies UK to transport about 20,000 TEUs per year by rail throughout the United Kingdom.
   CSAV group Agencies UK represents Chilean ocean carrier Compania Sud Americana de Vapores in Britain.
   Initially the main contract volume will target CSAV services from the Port of Felixstowe to Freightliner’s owned inland terminals at Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham, Freightliner said.
   It is estimated that the contract will take more than 200,000 tons of freight from the United Kingdom’s roads each year.
   “The introduction of this rail contract is an opportunity to ensure guaranteed resource availability to support our ever increasing volumes through the Port of Felixstowe, while at the same time reducing congestion and pollution by transporting freight by rail,” said Michael Finn, managing director of CSAV Group Agencies UK.
