FreightScan, Swissport in deal

FreightScan, Swissport in deal    FreightScan, an automated dimensioning systems provider, and Swissport International Ltd., a provider of aviation ground services, said they have formed a strategic partnership that will enable Swissport to install automated dimensioning systems across its global network.
   FreightScan installed a dimensioning system at Swissport’s Amsterdam (AMS) air cargo station last September and Andr' Johnson, chief executive officer of FreightScan, said it has been very successful, by giving customers a standardized method for dimensioning all shipments.
   In the partnership's first phase, similar equipment will be installed at London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Chicago and Los Angeles airports.
   The FS100 dimensioning systems designated for these facilities capture length, width and height for all types of cargo, creating a printable and retrievable record of the dimensions, dimensional weight, a scan image and digital photo of each piece of a shipment. Subsequent phases will continue to roll out FS100 systems to Swissport's major facilities throughout Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
   Air freight is usually priced on volume or gross weight, whichever is the greater amount.
