French Logistics Firm SDV acquires J.E. Bernard in U.K.
France's SDV International Logistics, the transport and logistics division of the Bollor' Group, has acquired J.E. Bernard of Britain in a move to strengthen its UK operations.
SDV said the purchase, was consistent with its 'pan-European development program and will bring into balance its strengths within the European markets, following an earlier acquisition of the Geis Network in Germany.'
Terms were not revealed.
Ed Kimber, chief executive officer of Bernard, said the merger would create an organization of 445 offices in 88 countries, employing more than 26,000 people.
In the United Kingdom, the newly merged company will boast 17 locations, six purpose-built freight terminal facilities and employ more than 500.
